Social Work in EU 2403-213-PRSs1
The subject concerns various visions of social assistance in Europe and their cultural determinants. Showing their understanding of the idea of social assistance and the organization of education systems for social work and their characteristics will help in understanding the role of social work in EU societies. Additionally, selected solutions in the field of social work in the indicated EU countries will be discussed. In group work, students will learn about the education and practice of social work in selected EU countries. The presentation of the results and discussion will be an opportunity to learn about good practices of social work in the EU and to compare foreign solutions with those appropriate for the Polish social work system.
Course content
1. Introduction to the subject, presentation of key concepts, division of tasks.
2. Social work in selected European Union countries, documents and legislation, PS practice taking into account the differences between groups of EU countries.
3-4 Countries of North-West Europe
5-6 countries of southern Europe
7-8-9 Countries admitted to the EU as a result of the EU enlargement process
10 Comparison of the presented systems with the Polish system. Discussion on social mechanisms and the possibilities of their use in Poland.

The learning outcomes achieved during the seminar will be assessed on the basis of a presentation on the analysis of the selected EU country, passed at least with a grade 3.0 (satisfactory) and a positive assessment of the preparation of a multimedia presentation according to the following criteria:

Assessment of the competence of oral presentation of content -25%
Assessment criteria for written forms of final assignments and presentations apply to all components of the test. Quality of preparation and conducting of the presentation, acceptance of comments and corrections in the final presentation archived in Teams.

80% good
70% rating fair plus
60% - pass mark, grade satisfactory.
