Classes are devoted to legal issues useful social workers’ practice. Particular emphasis is placed on topics including the combining of social welfare.
Topics of classes:
- Preliminary characterization of the course
- Social security, social risks, subjects of legal relations in the field of social welfare, legal forms of action in social welfare), the types of social welfare, benefits and their characteristics, principles and procedures for providing, the organization of social welfare, social welfare for foreigners
- Help for addicts and the mentally ill
- Social insurance system in Poland, pensions,
- Selected issues of unemployment and connected with a risk of difficult situations in life
- Family benefits
- Structural pension, social pension
- Activities of public benefit and volunteer work - selected Issues
Students joining this course should previously acquire the base of knowledge in the field of theory of law, the characteristics of the basic branches of law and family and care law

Cognitive domain:
After completing the course, the student:
- Defines the concept of the principle of subsidiarity in the field of social policy, the concept of security, insurance, the concept of social risk, social welfare, domestic violence, supported employment, social cooperatives, social and professional reintegration,
- Enumerates and characterizes the kinds of social risk, subjects of the legal relations in the field of social welfare, legal forms of action on social welfare, benefits under the Act Ustawa o pomocy społecznej, the corrective and compensatory action conducted against perpetrators of domestic violence, types of family benefits, benefits under the Act - Ustawy z dnia 25 czerwca 1999 r. o świadczeniach pieniężnych z ubezpieczenia społecznego w razie choroby i macierzyństwa, tasks, rights and obligations of social workers arising from legal regulation
- Enumerates the social human rights, the reasons for granting social welfare, forms of help to people affected by domestic violence
- Describes the procedure - "Blue Cards", the obligations of employers towards people with disabilities, rights of disabled people under the Act Ustawa z dnia 27 sierpnia 1997 r. o rehabilitacji zawodowej i społecznej oraz zatrudnianiu osób niepełnosprawnych , the task of interdisciplinary teams and working groups for prevention of domestic violence, legal basis for dealing with addicted
- Analyzes, compares, interprets regulations appearing in the classes using the basic interpretive directives.
Affective domain:
After completing the course, student:
- Evaluates and discusses the legal regulations that appeared during classes in the light of pedagogical knowledge acquired so far
- Recognizes the importance of legal knowledge in pedagogical and social work practice
Psychomotor domain:
After completing the course, student:
- Use the law to clarify the examples of problem situations that may arise in social work
