Mindfulness practice and quality of life 2400-OG-PUaJŻ
The course can be taken as preparation for taking a fully-fledged MBSR course (Mindfulness-Based Reduction Course), a stress reduction programme based on the development of mindfulness. The course leader, in addition to his academic interests and work in the fields of sociological exploration of quality of life and social problems, is a certified MBSR teacher. In general, it is an attempt to get students interested in the practice of mindfulness not so much as a collection of attentional techniques, but as a comprehensive programme embedded in an individual's lifestyle, taking into account a specific way of rooting oneself in everyday life, one's relationship to the body, one's thoughts, one's emotions and shaping the balance between what nourishes and burdens us. The practice of mindfulness has received numerous scientific verifications, in which the authors unveil further benefits of the practice (changes both in the somatic dimension - specific brain functions, resistance to disease), and in the form of response to stress and sense of well-being.Students will be introduced to the state of research on the determinants of human quality of life, taking into account the effectiveness of the MBSR programme. The course consists of conversational lectures, exchange of experiences, but also meditation practice, exercises to familiarise students with techniques for bringing themselves back to the 'here and now'.
