Complete description of the subject

- Tasks of plant ecophysiology and basic research methods.
- Basic concepts and definitions, classification of environmental factors, typical plant responses to stress.
- Ecophysiological importance of solar radiation: solar radiation as an energy source, qualitative and quantitative characteristics of solar radiation, radiation balance and heat transfer; physiological, chemical and structural adaptations of plants to various light conditions
- Environmental conditions of the photosynthesis process - the role of light radiation, carbon dioxide and temperature; plant sensitivity to oxidative stress; diurnal and annual course of photosynthesis, assimilation management.
- Radiation and temperature: heat relations in the habitat, temperature of individual parts of plants, physiological resistance to temperature changes, temperature and plant development.
- Ecological types of water management - tolerance to dehydration, plants gaining, saving and accumulating water; water: water uptake and conduction in plants, transpiration, water management.
- Other environmental factors: pH values, nutrients and minerals (carbon dioxide, nitrogen, macro and micronutrients), soil salt content, harmful substances (abiotic stress and anthropogenic stressors).
- The interaction of environmental factors.

Metody dydaktyczne

Teaching methods Laboratory: illustrative and research based on written instructions; students carry out tasks individually or in pairs; classes are conducted in a group of 8-12 students, because it is required by methodology of experiments: access to laboratory equipment and devices, and work with chemical reagents.

Assessment methods & criteria

Passing Laboratory: the condition for obtaining a pass is attendance at all classes; written report covering the subject of the class or multiple choice test (60%), continuous assessment (current preparation of students for classes and studies (30%), active participation (10%).
Required threshold for a satisfactory grade - 55-60%, satisfactory plus - 61 -70%, good - 71-80%, good plus 81-90%, very good - 91-100%.
