Bacteria that don't lie 2600-OG-EN-BDL

The lecture shows how small microorganisms can have a big impact on science and everyday life. Students will learn about ATCC reference strains – “bacteria that don't lie” – and how quality standards help scientists obtain reliable results. Examples of the use of microorganisms in laboratories and industry are discussed in an accessible way, as are the principles of responsible and ethical research.

Lecture: graded assessment in the form of a multiple-choice test covering: W1, W2, W3, W4, U1, U2, U3, or a presentation or essay on a topic specified by the lecturer.
Assessment criteria:
satisfactory: 50-60% of points,
satisfactory plus: 61-70% of points,
good: 71-80% of points,
good plus: 81-90% of points,
very good: above 90% of points.

ATTENTION!
Lectures will be held remotely in an asynchronous mode via the MOODLE platform or MS Teams. Students decide independently when to study the materials and when to take the final assessment.
