2. Outline of psychodynamic approach to personality. Conscious/unconscious motivation, structure of personality, basic processes, defence mechanisms. Psychoanalysis (Freud), individual psychology (Adler), neopsychoanalysis (Horney, Fromm), ego psychology (Hartmann, Block). Object relations theories.
3. Trait theories. Concept of psychological trait. Goldberg fundamental lexical hypotheis. Factor analysis and hierarchical model of personality (Cattell). The Big Five model (Costa & McCrae).
4. Learning theories of personality. Conditioning (Pawlow, Skinner). Theory of conflict (Miller & Dollard). Locus of control (Rotter). Person/situation debate. Mischel’s critique of trait theories. Social-cognitive approach (Bandura). Social personality psychology (Funder).
5. Cognitive personality psychology. Theory of personal constructs (Kelly). Real, ideal, ought and possible self. Self-discrepancy theory (Higgins). Self-concept (Campbell). Self-esteem (Rosenberg). Self-scheme theory (Markus).
6. Humanistic and existential psychology of personality. Self-actualization and theory of needs (Maslow). Existential dillemas (Frankl, May). Sociobiology and evolutional psychology as a counterproposal (Hogan, Trivers, Buss).
7. Narrative approach to personality. Script theory of personality (Tomkins). Narrative identity (McAdams). The dialogical self theory (Hermans).
8. Applications of personality theories. Interpreting behavior. Case study I.
9. Possibilities of integration of personality theories. Case study II.
10. Final test.

Grading will be based on three criteria:
(1) presence and active participation in classess – K1, K2, K3, U1, U2
(2) final test (multiple choice questions) – W1, W2, W3, U1, U2
Assessment criteria:
fail - less than 60%
satisfactory - 60%
satisfactory plus – 75%
good – 80%
good plus- 85%
very good – 90%
