Virtues, vices, fiends & values – a genealogy of language of morality and ethics 2400-OG-EN-VVV

(po angielsku) Student W1: has basic knowledge of concept of genealogy of morality and language of morals and ethics and hermeneutical approach to ethical studies W2: possesses knowledge on history of basic ethical notions (ethos, morality, virtue, vice, sin, value) W3: is acquainted with selected Polish ethical notions, evolution of their meaning, and interference with its counterparts in ancient and contemporary languages

(po angielsku) Student U1: is able to recognize importance of evolution of moral terms U2: is capable to present main stages of evolution of moral language in European philosphy U3: demonstrate several examples of moral terms in Polish, English, and its own native language and their relation to classical philosophical vocabulary

(po angielsku) Student K1: understands the significance of diachronic approach in studies on language of morals K2: understands the need for studies on moral language and its importance for shaping moral practices K3: is well prepared to rearticulate its own vocabulary of moral terms K4: can cooperate and communicate with persons using other sets of ethical notions
