Public Speaking 2400-OG-EN-PS
During the course we learn how to:
- prepare a speech (select and narrow a topic, compose purpose and thesis statement of a speech, search for supporting material, compose a speech outline)
- deliver a speech (how to deal with anxiety, how to work with voice, body and space as well how to answer to questions)

Assessment methods:
preparation and delivery of a speech on a topic selected by the student (W1, W2, W3, U3, K1, K2) as well as preparation of a presentation outline (W2, W3, U1, U2) containing :
1. topic of the presentation,
2. general purpose,
3. specific purpose,
4. main thesis,
5. presentation structure,
6. list of sources.
Assessment criteria:
Each presentation is assessed according to the following criteria:
1. choosing a topic relevant to the audience (max 10 points)
2. proper formulation of the purposes and main thesis of the presentation (max 25 points)
3. proper presentation structure (max 20 points)
4. proper selection of sources (max 25 points)
5. presentation (fluency, language, use of supporting material) (max 20 points)
Student can gain maximum 100 points:
very good (grade 5): 91-100 points
good plus (grade 4,5): 81-90 points
good (grade 4): 71 – 80 points
satisfactory plus (grade 3,5): 61-70 points
satisfactory (grade 3): 51-60 points
fail (grade 2): 50 points and less
