Podstawy ratownictwa medycznego

The lectures are aimed at acquiring knowledge of the organization of the Medical Rescue System in Poland. The legal basis for the functioning of the Medical Rescue System in Poland.Presentation of the principle of cooperation between rescue services and the method of organizing rescue operations in mass incidents and disasters.
Classes are devoted to the acquisition of practical skills in the field of:
- ensuring safety at the scene of the incident (own and the victim and witnesses)
-proper performance of the basic life support algorithm in people of different ages.
- correctly used AED
- securing the victim in a recovery position.
- safely turning the casualty from the stomach to the back
- proper conduct during choking in people of different ages.
- correct handling in the event of an injury.
- securing wounds or burns
- proper management of: hipotermia, overheating, diabetes, chest pain, epileptic seizure

Lecture topics:
1. Organization and functioning of the State Emergency Medical Services (PRM) system in Poland. Legal acts regulating the functioning of the PRM system. The role of the nurse
2. Disaster medicine - elements of crisis management, TRIAGE (START and JumpSTART)
3. ITLS - management of a trauma patient
4. Electrotherapy procedures, discussion of defibrillation, cardioversion and transcutaneous electrostimulation.
5. Advanced Life Support (ALS) - discussion of the algorithm, pharmacotherapy in cardiac arrest, ergonomics of work during ALS, the role of nursing staff in ALS.
6. ALS - special situations (4H and 4T, NLS, PALS, resuscitation of a pregnant woman, anaphylactic shock).
7. Post-resuscitation care.
Topics of practicals:
1. Non-instrumental and instrumental unblocking of the airway, patient ventilation using a self-expanding bag
2. Principles of safe electrotherapy
3. Advanced life-saving treatments - using the algorithm in practice
