The subject is implemented in the form of lectures, practical classes and professional practice.
The lectures are intended to familiarize the student with the structure, assumptions and tasks of long-term care, and the organizational forms of the services provided. The lectures also include standards and procedures in long-term care and specific problems in the work
of a long-term care nurse (e.g. burnout). These classes are also intended to familiarize the student with the legal regulations regarding the functioning of long-term care, as well as with the medical documentation applicable to this form of care. In addition, the lectures are devoted to discussing the specificity of care for selected groups of patients with chronic diseases, who are most often long-term care clients.
Practical classes and professional practice are intended to prepare the student to provide health services as part of long-term care.

1. The workload related to classes requiring the direct participation of academic teachers is: - participation in lectures: 10 hours
- consultations: 3 hours
- conducting the assessment: 2 hours
- practical and theoretical examination: 4 hours
The workload related to classes requiring the direct participation of academic teachers is 90 hours, which corresponds to 4 ECTS points
2. Balance of student workload:
- participation in lectures: 10 hours
- reading selected literature: 15 hours
- consultations: 3 hours
- preparation for the exam and passing the exam: 15 + 2 = 17 hours
The total student workload is 140 hours, which corresponds to 5 ECTS points 3. Time required to prepare for and participate in the assessment process: - preparation for the exam + passing: 15 + 2 = 17 hours - 1 ECTS point 4. Balance of the student's workload of a practical nature:
- participation in practical classes: 40 hours, which corresponds to 2 ECTS points 5. Time required to complete the mandatory internship:

In terms of knowledge, the graduate:
D.W10 principles of organizing long-term care;
D.W1 risk factors and health threats in people receiving long-term care;
D.W2 etiopathogenesis, clinical symptoms, course, treatment, prognosis and principles of nursing care for patients under long-term care;
D.W3 principles of diagnosing and planning patient care in long-term care;
D.W6 properties of drug groups and their effects on patient systems and organs in long-term care, in various diseases depending on age and health status, taking into account side effects, interactions with other drugs and routes of administration;
D.W9 aging process in biological, psychological, social and economic aspects;
D.W11 etiopathogenesis of the most common diseases of the elderly; D.W12 tools and scales for assessing support for older people and their families and principles of their activation;
D.W7 nursing standards and procedures used in the care of patients of various ages and health conditions.
D.W8 patient's reactions to the disease, admission to a long-term care facility, taking into account the age and health criteria

In terms of skills, the graduate:
D.U1 collect information, formulate nursing diagnosis, establish goals and nursing care plan, implement interventions
nursing and evaluate nursing care;
D.U2 provide self-care counseling to patients of various ages and health conditions regarding diseases and addictions;
D.U4 organize the isolation of patients with an infectious disease in a long-term care facility and at home;
D.U6 select the technique and methods of wound care, including applying dressings; D.U7 select methods and means of wound care based on their classification;
D.U15 document the patient's health situation, the dynamics of its changes and the nursing care provided using documentation currently used in long-term care facilities; use IT tools to analyze collected patient data;
D.U18 recognize complications of pharmacological, dietary, rehabilitation and medical and care treatment;
D.U20 conduct therapeutic conversations with patients of various ages and health conditions and their family/caregivers; D.U21 conduct bedside rehabilitation and activation using elements of occupational therapy;
D.U22 provide information about the patient's health condition to selected members of the therapeutic team;
D.U26 prepare and administer drugs to patients through various routes: through the digestive system (orally, rectally), parenterally (in the form of injections and through the respiratory tract);

K4 independently perceive one's own limitations in terms of knowledge, skills and social competences and perform self-assessment.

Lecture: D.W1-D.W3; D.W6-D.W12. Assessment method: multiple choice test.
Criteria:
- attendance at classes is mandatory,
60% correct answers - pass-3
70% of correct answers - pass -3.5
80% correct answers - pass - 4.0
90% correct answers - pass - 4.5
>90% correct answers - pass -5.0.
Practical classes: D.U1, D.U2, D.U4, D.U6, D.U7, D.U15, D.U18, D.U20-D.U22, D.U26, K1-K4
Assessment method:
- implementation of the nursing process in accordance with the individual nursing care plan in long-term care at an optimal level
Criteria:
- attendance at classes is mandatory,
- evaluation method:
- establishing an individual care plan for the patient and his family and its implementation in a stationary facility or at home
- pass - 5: the student implemented the patient's individual care plan
and properly documented the nursing process at an optimal level
- pass - 4: the student implemented an individual care plan in
patient and properly documented the nursing process and committed
minor unimportant errors
- pass - 3: the student completed the individual care plan and
properly documented the nursing process and made mistakes,
which did not result in a lack of safety for the patient or his family
and for the student himself
- no credit - 2: dependent student, implemented the patient's individual care plan and made mistakes that could pose a safety risk to the patient, family and others
