Lecture topics: 1. Organization and functioning of the state emergency medical services
system in Poland, historical outline. Legal acts regulating the functioning of the state emergency medical services
system. System Units, Emergency Notification Centers. The role and tasks of the nurse/midwife in the System units. 2. Rules for safely providing assistance and conducting rescue operations. Assessment of basic vital functions. 3. Basic life-saving activities, with a separate group of adults, children and pregnant women. Detailed discussion of the BLS scheme. Rules for using AED. Side position fixed. 4. Selected states of sudden health threat. 5. Techniques of moving and evacuating the patient.

1. Assessment of the injured person, preliminary examination, provision of medical care to the injured person. Instrumentless principles
clearing the respiratory tract. Choking, stopping bleeding, protecting injuries.
2. Practical exercises on phantoms using the BLS scheme for children and adults. Practical exercises using AED. Safe position exercises for adults, children and pregnant women

Kryteria oceniania

Passing lectures based on attendance
Passing the practicals - the basis is to take part in all exercises and personal, correct performance of each practiced activity medical under the supervision of the practicals leader. Lack of activity during exercise and lack of preparation for exercise may be the basis to fail the given practicals. Absence requires justification.

Doing exercises (in additional term) only after prior arrangement with the teacher.
Lectures - the basis for passing the exam is attendance at all lectures. Absence requires justification. Doing lectures possible only in the form of an oral answer on the content discussed during the lecture.
