During interactive lectures (20 h) student will have possibility to get theoretical knowledge concerning symptoms of respective internal diseases with simultaneous explanation of their definition, pathophysiology, course, differential diagnosis, as well as treatment and prognosis of the most important diseases in the field of internal medicine, which regard: cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, genito-urinary, musculoskeletal, endocrine, and nervous systems. the student will be taught about management of patients with conscious disorders, disturbances in vital signs, including coma and syncope (transient loss of conscious), chest pain, dyspnoe, cyanosis, cardiac arrhythmia (heart palpitation), hypertension and low arterial blood pressure, shock, acute and chronic lower limbs ischemia, chronic venous disease, leg oedema, venous-thromboembolic disease, microvascular and lymphatic system diseases, tonsilitis, cough, hemoptysis, hoarseness, dysphagia, jaundice, acute and chronic abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, bloating, ascites, bleeding to digestive tract, hypothyreosis, and thyreotoxicosis, acute and chronic alteration in remain endocrine glands function, diabetes mellitus and its acute (hypoglycemic and hyperglycemic) and chronic complications (vascular, nervous), urinary retention, polakisuria, renal colic, dysuria, erythrocyturia and hematuria, pyuria, acute hematologic syndromes, acute and joints pain and oedema, and the other musculoskeletal system disorders, headache, seizure, thrills, fever. Typical symptoms of most prevalent poisoning will be also presented, for example with carbon oxide, psychotrop medicines, antidiabetics, anticoagulants, cholinergic and anticholinergic syndrome).
During self- education student will learn about symptoms, alterations in physical examination, additional examinations, and treatment of following most prevalent diseases from the field of internal medicine, such as: chronic coronary syndrome, cardiac failure, pneumonia, hydrothorax, gastroesophageal reflux disease, non-specific inflammatory bowel diseases, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, rheumatoid arthritis, acute and chronic leukemia, anemia, and hemorrhagic diathesis.
