Nauki podstawowe: Parazytologia 1855-P1-NPP-S1Z
During on-line lectures (10 h) student will have possibility to get theoretical knowledge concerning classification, biology, epidemiology and existence (possibility of exposition and invasion), life cycle of parasites living in Poland and tropical countries (protozoa, flatworms, flukes, tapeworms, nematodes- roundworms, parasite insects, and arachnoids). Student will be informed about common symptomatology of infestations with respective parasites, selection of proper diagnostic procedures for sampling of diagnostic material (stool, blood, urine, excretion, tissue biopsy etc.), and choosing of correct place of sampling (on the base of clinical examination, USG, computed tomography, etc.). Students will be taught about therapeutic method of parasite infestations, both using the drugs which are allowed to be prescribe by nurse, and which can be recommended only by physician. Every student get also information whether therapy should concern only ill individuals, or should be recommended for all persons who had contact with the source of contagion. The standard methods of infestation prevention will be presented.
During exercises (5h) student will be taught how to introduce in practice the knowledge obtained during lectures, in the meaning of proper medical history collection, nursing physical examination, correct selection of laboratory examinations and their interpretation. Student will be taught safe sampling of diagnostic material (anal smear, blood sampling, etc.) and its transportation.
Self- education (15 h) is expected as the time for completing the knowledge, preparation of own presentation or preparation of case-report.
