The lectures are aimed at acquiring knowledge of the principles of diagnosis and treatment methods in psychiatry to the extent enabling the rational use of physiotherapy measures. They will cover the characteristics of working with patients with various mental illnesses, including: schizophrenia, mood disorders, cognitive disorders, anxiety and eating disorders, and personality disorders. Presenting the problems of a psychiatric patient, paying attention to the patient's functional assessment and proper communication. The exercises are devoted to acquiring skills in planning, selecting and modifying rehabilitation programs for patients with various mental disorders and co-existing dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system and internal diseases, depending on the mental (cognitive and emotional) state of the patient, his or her needs and the needs of the actual caregivers. During the exercises, students will gain the skills to communicate with patients, gather information, learn the appropriate approach and empathy. Based on these skills, they will be able to perform a functional assessment and plan appropriate rehabilitation for each patient. Both forms of education are aimed at developing or maintaining an attitude of respect and understanding for patients with psychiatric diseases and respecting the patient's rights.
