The subject is implemented in the form of lectures and exercises.
The purpose of the lectures is to present and discuss issues related to the fundamentals of clinical physiotherapy in oncology:
- familiarization with the problems of cancer, etiology, type of anticancer treatment
- the role of the process of improvement of cancer patients mobility and quality of life before, during and after oncological treatment
- ways of communication with the oncological patient
- organization of physiotherapy in oncology.
The aim of the exercises is familiarize the students with patient physical examination and functional assessment and to propose the methods of functional improvement in
patients after surgical treatment for breast cancer,
patients after breast reconstruction
patients treated for lung cancer
patients treated for cancers of the gastrointestinal tract
patients treated for cancers of the head and neck,
patients treated for prostate cancer,
patients treated for soft tissue cancers,
patients treated for cancers of the reproductive system,

1. obligatory hours carried out with the participation of the teacher:
- participation in lectures: 10 hours
- participation in exercises: 30 hours
40 h = 1.3 ECTS
2. time for individual work:
reading the literature: 5 hours

3. time spent by the student to prepare for the exam:

W.1: etiology, pathomechanism, symptoms and course of the most common diseases in the following fields: cardiology and cardiac surgery, pulmonology, surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, geriatrics, psychiatry, intensive care, oncology and palliative medicine, in terms of rational use of physiotherapeutic measures; D.W3.
W. 2: principles of diagnosis and general principles and treatment in the most common diseases in the following fields: cardiology and cardiac surgery, pulmonology, surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, geriatrics, gynecology and medicine
and obstetrics, geriatrics, psychiatry, intensive care, oncology, and palliative medicine, in terms of rational application of physiotherapeutic measures; D.W4.

U.1: instruct patients or their caregivers how to perform exercises and medical training at home, how to use medical equipment, and how to use everyday objects for therapeutic purposes; D.U7

U.3: plan, select - depending on the clinical and functional status of the patient - and perform physiotherapeutic interventions in women after mastectomy, including management of lymphedema and impairment of upper limb function; D.U46
U.4: applies the principles of proper communication with the patient and communicates with other members of the therapeutic team; D.U47
U.5: takes measures to improve the quality of life of the patient, including the patient in the terminal period,
using rehabilitation equipment; D.U48

Wymagania wstępne
Basic knowledge of: normal anatomy , pathology and genetics. Knowledge of basic oncological disease entities - etiology, pathomechanism, symptoms and course of cancer.

Credit in the form of preparation and presentation of a physiotherapy program in a selected disease unit: > 50% (min. 20 points) - W.1-W.4; U.1-U.7; K.1-K.7;
The final grade corresponds to the sum of points from the final exam
95-100% pts 19-20 grade very good (5)
94-88% pts 17-18 grade good plus (4+)
87-80% pts 15-16 grade good(4)
79-71% pts 13-14 grade satisfactory plus( 3+)
70-60% pts 12 assessment satisfactory (3)
59-0%pts 0-11 mark unsatisfactory
