Lectures:
- Overview of subjects covered during pharmacy studies and specifics of various departments;
- Postgraduate training for pharmacists (specializations, ongoing training, qualification courses);
- Characteristics of the Polish healthcare system;
- Legal framework regulating the pharmaceutical market in Poland;
- Jobs for pharmacists;
- Professional governing body;
- The role of pharmacists in Polish and global history.
Seminars:
- Introduction to the profession of a pharmacist. Pharmacy student internships in a community pharmacy (after the 3rd year of studies), and in a hospital pharmacy (after the 4th year of studies). Six-month internship in a pharmacy. Student responsibilities during summer internships (after the 3rd and 4th year) and during the six-month internship in a pharmacy. Responsibilities of a pharmacist in a community pharmacy, corporate pharmacy, hospital pharmacy department, a pharmacy point, or a responsible person in a pharmaceutical wholesaler.
- Introduction to pharmacy formulary, methods of writing prescriptions, Latin nomenclature, basic calculations (ethanol, glycerol dilutions, etc.).
- The Polish and European Pharmacopoeias and their analytical and technological importance for pharmacists, as well as pharmaceutical literature and its application in pharmacies.

1. The workload for classes requiring the direct involvement of academic teachers is:
– participation in lectures: 14 hours
– participation in seminars: 9 hours
– preparation of the exam: 2 hours.
The workload for classes requiring the direct involvement of academic teachers is 25 hours, which corresponds to 1,0 ECTS points.
2. Student workload:
– Lecture attendance: 14 hours
– Seminar attendance: 9 hours
– Seminar preparation: 8 hours
– Reading the designated literature: 9 hours
– Preparation for and completion of the exam: 8 + 2 hours.
The total student workload is 50 hours, which corresponds to 2,0 ECTS points.
3. Research-related workload:
– Reading the designated scientific literature: 8 hours
–Attending lectures (including research methodology, research results, and studies): 6 hours
– Attending seminars related to research activity (including research methodology, research results, and studies): 6 hours
– Preparing for seminars related to research activity: 4 hours
– Preparing for the exam regarding the research and scientific aspects of the course: 6 hours
The total student research-related workload is 30 hours, which corresponds to 1,2 ECTS points.
4. Time required to prepare and participate in the examination process:
– preparation for seminars + preparation for the exam + completion of the exam: 8 + 8 + 2 = 18 hours (0,72 ECTS points).

W4: Knows legal basis and principles of practice of the profession of a pharmacist, regulations pertaining to obtaining a licence to practice the profession of a pharmacist and functioning of a professional organisation for pharmacists – K_E.W4.

Passing the course is achieved by obtaining a positive result in the final colloquium covering lectures and seminars.
Grading criteria:
90,1-100,0% - very good
83,4-90,0% - good+
76,8-83,3% - good
70,0-76,7% - satisfactory+
60,0-69,9% - satisfactory
0-59,9% - unsatisfactory
Admission to the exam is based on attendance at compulsory seminars.
