8.1. Specyfika farmakoterapii dziecięcej

Seminar are designed to acquire and consolidate the knowledge of the specificity of child pharmacotherapy: to remind the basic knowledge of the mechanism of action of drugs in the context of a child, to understand the distinctness of the structure and functioning of the child's body. During the lectures, the student acquires knowledge about the treatment of the most common childhood diseases, taking into account the indications, contraindications, dosage and side effects of the drugs in question. The subject will allow you to recall and organize the knowledge of the basics of pediatric propaedeutics in the treatment of a child.

1. The workload related to classes requiring the direct participation of academic teachers is:
- participation in the seminar: 6 hours
The workload related to classes requiring the direct participation of academic teachers is: 6 hours, which corresponds to 0.24 ECTS points
2. Balance of student workload:
- participation in the seminar: 6 hours
- preparation for the seminar (including reading the indicated literature): 2 hours
- preparation for the exam and passing the exam: 1 + 1 = 2 hours
The total student workload is 10 hours, which corresponds to 0.4 ECTS points
3. Workload related to scientific research:
- reading selected scientific literature: 1 hour
- participation in the seminar (taking into account research results and scientific studies in the field of the specificity of pediatric pharmacology): 6 hours
- preparation for passing the exam (taking into account scientific studies in the field of the specificity of pediatric pharmacology): 1 hour
The total student workload related to scientific research is 8 hours, which corresponds to 0.32 ECTS points

- preparation for passing: 6 + 0.5 = 6.5 hours (0.26 ECTS points)

U1: Performs simple pharmacokinetic calculations (C K_U13).
U2: Selects drugs in appropriate doses in order to correct pathological phenomena in the body and in individual organs (C K_U14).
U3: Designs a scheme of rational chemotherapy of infections, empirical and targeted (C K_U15).
U4: Can correctly prepare records of all prescription forms of medicinal substances (C K_U16).
U5: Uses pharmaceutical catalogs and databases on medicinal products (C K_U17).

Wymagania wstępne
A student commencing education in the subject of the specificity of pediatric pharmacotherapy should have knowledge on the basics of the mechanism of action of drugs and toxicology as well as on pediatrics.
