The classes will present the characteristics of the most common physical and mental addictions, taking into account the differences in the mechanism of development and their recognition.
The impact that a given addiction has on individual organs and the psychosocial sphere of the body and the entire population will be discussed.
Characteristic symptoms and possible complications will be presented.
Based on pathophysiology, treatment methods and their effectiveness will be presented.

1. Obligatory hours carried out with the participation of the teacher:
- participation in the seminar: 30 hours
The workload related to classes requiring the direct participation of academic teachers is 30 hours, which corresponds to 1 ECTS point.
2. Balance of student workload:
- participation in the seminar: 30 hours
- preparation for passing and passing: 0.5 hour
The total student workload is 30.5 hours, which corresponds to 1 ECTS point.

Wymagania wstępne
The student demonstrates knowledge of the anatomy of the central nervous system, enabling understanding of the pathophysiology of addiction, along with the biological systems involved in the development of addiction.
Knows the biochemical mechanisms of action of alcohol, nicotine and basic groups of drugs, enabling understanding of their impact on the functioning of the body.
