During the lectures will be presented following topics:
The pagan culture before the 10th century.
The culture in the times of the first Polish rulers Mieszko I and Mieszko II.
The Polish culture in 11th century
Iconographical sources from the Early Middle Ages in Poland.
Poland in the time of territorial divisions and the development of writing culture.
Chronicles in Middle Ages in Poland.
The Kingdom of Poland under the rule of the last Piast monarchs.
The Kingdom of Poland under the rule of the House of Anjou.
The Polish-Lithuanian State in 15th century.
Intellectuals in Poland in 15th century.
The culture of Jagiellonian Kingdom at the end of the 15th century
Renaissance in Poland
Material culture of the Jagiellonian court in Kraków.
Social reforms in the 16th century.

(po angielsku) Contact hours with teacher: - participation in lectures – 30 hrs - consultations- 30 hrs Self-study hours: - preparation for lectures – 5 hrs - reading literature- 15 hrs - preparation for test- 10 hrs Altogether: 90 hrs (3 ECTS)

(po angielsku) Student W1: has basic knowledge of the history and culture of Poland in Middle Ages and Early Modern Times W2: possesses knowledge about the basic data, names and facts of polish history; knows the most important achievements of Polish citizens in the time from the 10th to the 16th century W3: is familiar with with most important medieval and Renaissance Polish sources W4: is acquainted with inventions, philosophical works
