This course is designed to equip current PhD students with the knowledge and skills necessary to present their research and publish it in the international English-language style. The main elements of the course are as follows. It will make students aware of key stylistic differences in the composition of academic research papers and publications in German (Polish), French and English traditions. It will provide detailed instruction regarding the evolution of English academic publication in the humanities and social sciences from the early twentieth century to present. I will make clear the structure of a typical English-language article, and the main ways in which English-language arguments are formulated.
