The course program assumes the development of four language skills, i.e. speaking, reading, listening and writing, through:
- developing and improving language skills enabling one to speak using specialized terminology on topics related to academic and professional aspects, and, in particular, conducting debates on specialized topics with diverse audiences;
- working with a variety of text materials enabling mastery of vocabulary related to the field of study;
- working with original recordings (audio and video) enabling listening to English in various situational contexts related to the field of study;
- the use of appropriate linguistic structures in various forms of written work and oral statements using specialized terminology.

Assessment criteria
During the course of teaching, the student receives a semester grade in the language course based on the level of mastery of various language skills. In addition to participating in classes, the student's individual work is also a condition for achieving learning outcomes at a given level.
The final semester grade consists of:
- continuous assessment covering ongoing preparation for classes and activity during classes (U01, U02, U03);
- oral activities (U01, U02, U03), which test listening and reading skills, knowledge of vocabulary and collocations
The English course ends with an oral exam and the ability to debate and express opinions on topics related to economics:
- oral examination (U01, U02, U03);
The condition for taking the exam is passing the semester.
The condition for passing the semester is to obtain a positive grade (minimum 60%) in the student's preparation to conduct and participate in a debate and prepare a presentation on a selected topic.
Grading scale:
60 – 67% = 3.0 (satisfactory)
68 – 75% = 3.5 (satisfactory)
76 – 83% = 4.0 (good)
84 – 91% = 4.5 (good plus)
92 – 100% = 5.0 (very good)
