Aim of course Landscapes of Europe is to acquaint students with basic physical geography features of assorted European countries (of Balkan and Central Europe regions: Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, BiH, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo , Albania, Bulgaria, Romania). The subject will focus on their main tourist attraction, both of natural (geotourism) and human origin. There would be also some histirical background for particular countries territorial development, historical regions and contemporary administrative units, as well as ethnic issues.

7. Geography & tourism in Bulgaria and Moldova;
8. Geography & tourism in Romania;

Total student workload

Contact hours with teacher: - participation in lectures - 15 hrs - consultations - 5 hrs Self-study hours: - preparation for lectures – 15 hrs - writing essays/ papers/ projects- 10 hrs - preparation for test- 15 hrs Altogether: 60 hrs (2 ECTS)

Learning outcomes - knowledge

Student W1: knows main main physical geography features of assorted European countries of Balkan & Central Europe regions (Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, BiH, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Romania);; W2: possess knowledge about main tourist attraction, both of natural (geotourism) and human origin (tangible and untangible Heritage) of analyzed countries;

Learning outcomes - skills

Student U1: is able to describe in English topographical units and most important monuments and some outstanding places of natural and anthropogenic heritage of discussed countries; U2: is capable to describe similarities and differences in selected geography features and tourism related issues between discussed countries using English geographical vocabulary;

Learning outcomes - social competencies

Student K1: is aware and understands racial, ethnic, cultural and religious issues in various countries of Balkan & Central Europe regions; K2: is more tolerant and empathetic;
