Introduction to geohazards. Tectonic hazards: plate tectonics. Tectonic hazards: earthquakes. Tectonic hazards: volcanoes. Sediment hazards: landslides. Sediment hazards: coasts. Long term hazards: Magnetic field and asteroid impacts. Tsunami. Impact of geohazards on society. Methods of prediction, monitoring, risk assessment and mitigation of geohazards.

W1: student can describe the theory of plate tectonics and structure of the Earth’s crust and interior W2: student can explain the nature of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, tsunami, etc. W3: student understand how natural processes as described above impact humans and society
