The aim of the classes is to equip the students with specialized English knowledge, skills and social competencies. The students will be better able to talk and write about topics relating to their field of study (urban sustainability studies). For example, they will be able to explain the impact of different systems on urban sustainability using specialized English. They will also be able to cooperate in culturally and linguistically different groups, which will help them see issues from different perspectives. Moreover, the students will be better able to understand texts about topics relating to their field of study. For example, they will be better able to understand ideas presented in academic textbooks and journal articles from their academic discipline.
