Computer-assisted qualitative and quantitative data analysis 2800-CAQ-USS-1-S1
The course will be devoted to the issue of advanced analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data in the study of social processes. The course will be divided into two parts: quantitative and qualitative. During the course, participants will learn to develop an analytical framework, select appropriate analytical techniques, build databases, analyse and report on broad social data. The course will be held using selected, statistical analytical environment and Qdalab Maxqda environment. As part of the activity, participants will have the opportunity to discover the similarities and differences between qualitative and quantitative ways of analysing data. The work will simulate the operation of research teams. Groups of students, working to solve a selected research problem, will have the opportunity to learn to select and perform varied analytical techniques from the repertoire of the two approaches. As part of the course, students will develop their analytical skills and learn to approach analytical results critically and constructively. In the joint part, the groups will prepare the outlines of a joint analytical project. In the second part, they will focus on quantitative analyses conducted using a specialised environment (selected, statistical analytical environment). Another module will be devoted to analysis using CAQDAS-type software (Maxqda). The emphasis of the course will be on learning skills to further develop analytical competence after the course.
