In vitro cell culture as a tool in biomedicine 2600-S1-CM-HKV
The lectures are an introduction to the issues related to the cytophysiology of cells in in vitro culture. Lecture topics:
1 / Introduction to in vitro cell culture, culture environment
2 / Cytophysiology of animal and human cells
3 / Cell cultures as a research model
Laboratory classes will make it possible to learn the principles of in vitro animal cell culture and their practical use as a tool in biomedicine. Exercise topics:
1/ Principles of in vitro animal cell culture, work under aseptic conditions, experiment planning.
2/ Establishing a primary culture of normal cells using the explant and enzymatic methods.
3/ Secondary cultures - passaging of different cell types. Methods of freezing and storage of animal cells.
4/ Analysis of the cytotoxic compounds influence on cultured cells. Assessment of cell viability - trypan blue staining, MTT test.
5/ Seminar "Application of in vitro culture in diagnostics and therapy". Final test.
