Man and parasites 2600-OG-EN-MP
The course "Man and parasites" aims to familiarise students with the most important parasite species. The life cycles of medically significant parasites presented in the course will primarily serve to demonstrate the primary modes of invasion of these organisms and to understand the various factors that determine their spread in human populations worldwide.
In the lectures, students will become familiar with adaptations in the human-parasite system.
The plan is to compare scientific data on the biology of parasites, their impact on their hosts, and eradication methods with myths and pseudoscientific information spread online. The lectures will also present information on diagnostic errors resulting from failure to take into account etiological parasitic factors.
