(in Polish) Man and parasites - not only for tourists 2600-OG-BK-MAP

The course "Man and parasites - not only for tourists" aims to familiarise students with the most important parasite species. The life cycles of medically significant parasites presented in the course will primarily demonstrate the primary modes of invasion of these organisms and help understand the various factors that determine their spread in human populations worldwide.
In the lectures, students will become familiar with adaptations in the human-parasite system.
The plan is to compare scientific data on the biology of parasites, their impact on their hosts, and eradication methods with myths and pseudoscientific information spread online. The lectures will also present information on diagnostic errors resulting from the failure to take into account parasitic etiological factors.

During laboratory exercises, students will learn methods for diagnosing the presence of parasites in humans and will become familiar with diagnostic stages of selected species of these organisms.

W1: The student lists the basic groups of parasitic organisms found in humans (K_W14) W2: Student lists the possible ways in which humans acquire parasites in the evolutionary dimension (K_W07) W3: The student describes the life cycles of medically important parasites, and knows the principles of antiparasitic prophylaxis and how to proceed in the event of an invasion (K_W09)

Learning outcomes - skills

U1: The student analyses the reasons for the high prevalence of parasites in human populations in different climate zones and analyses the influence of cultural and social factors on the spread of human parasites (K_U03)

Learning outcomes - social competencies

K1: The student rationally and critically approaches information obtained from scientific literature, the Internet and other sources of mass media, as well as common beliefs regarding the dangers associated with human parasites in different climate zones (K_K02)
