Biogeography 2600-BO-BGRBIOL-3-S1
Biogeography allows to understand various patterns of the distribution of organisms on Earth. Uses various fields of biology and geography. As far as the content is transmitted, various ways of dispersing organisms and conditions for colonizing new places are discussed. The concept of geographical coverage, its structure, scope and origin is defined. The classification of ranges and their dynamics are also presented. The last term is associated with the expansion of ranges and their shrinking resulting in species extinction. The dynamics of ranges is discussed against the background of geological and climatic events. The part about the characteristics and distribution of basic habitats on Earth includes a description of terrestrial and marine biomes and the physical conditions that shape them. According to the distribution of biomes, regionalization of flora and fauna on a continental and oceans scale is proposed. The distribution of biogeographic elements of Poland's flora and fauna has also been characterized.
