The course focuses on discussing the specificity of interpreting and aims at acknowledging students with interpreting techniques and strategies. Students’ activities during the course consist in interpreting texts with the use of the following techniques:simultaneous interpreting, consecutive interpreting, a vista interpreting, liaison and chuchotage interpreting (on the C1 level). Students are to develop their interpreting workshop, note-taking techniques, working strategies and conference interpreter’s workshop. In-class exercises consist in interpreting texts from Polish into English and vice versa, individual or pair-work and discussing strategies applied.

Assessment criteria
A graded credit on the basis of the assignments assessing the level of achieving particular learning outcomes.
Assessment criteria: the student’s activity is evaluated during interpreting classes (also in the form of feedback from the teacher)
The final interpreting test - subject to assessment - consists in consecutive interpreting (a vista interpreting) of a randomly selected text in Polish or in English out of a spectrum of thematic fields within the area of the field of study.
The performance assessment scale is divided into four fields: grammatical correctness (30%), terminological accuracy (30%), fluency of delivery (30%) plus overall interpreting impression (10%).
The grading scale is as follows:
0-60% fail (2)
60-70% pass/ satisfactory (3)
71-80% - satisfactory plus (3+)
80-90% - good (4)
91-95% - good plus (4+)
96-100% - very good (5)
