Literature of English-speaking countries

The aim of the course is to introduce selected works of literature in English. Apart from British and American literature, the course focuses on texts from other geographical areas. The course is also to expand the students' knowledge about various literary genres and forms.

Contact hours with teacher online:
- participation in tutorials - 30 hrs.
Self-study hours:
- preparation for classes - 20 hrs.
- preparation for final test - 10 hrs.
Altogether: 60 hrs. (2 ECTS)

W1: The graduate has in-depth knowledge of selected aspects of the literature of English-speaking countries (K_W04)
W2: The graduate has in-depth konwledge of literary studies (K_W05).
W3: The graduate has in-depth knowledge of literary methodologies and terminology (K_W07).

U1: The graduate is able to read and comprehend advanced literary texts in English (K_U02).
U2: The graduate is able to adjust to unepexted work conditions and adjust relevant research methods and tools (K_U03).
U3: The graduate is able to place the analysed works in a specific historical and cultural context (K_U09).
U4: The graduate is able to critically analyse and interpret various texts, use specialist terminology and justify the selected methodology (K_U10).
U5: The graduate understands longer utterances and lectures on topics related to their field of study as well as understands speakers communicating in English (K_U19)
Learning outcomes - social competencies
K1: The graduate is able to properly prioritise the task implemented by themselves or others (K_K03).
K2: The graduate appreciates the tradition and cultural heritage of English-speaking countries (K_K05).
K3: The graduate regularly participates in activities for preserving the cultural heritage of English-speaking countries by taking part in discussion and delivering presentations in class (K_K06)
