Translation of LSP texts 2510-f1ENG3S-TLSP
The course focuses on discussing the specificity of specialist language (understood as the language of non-literary texts). The focus is laid on the development of translation skills viewed as the ability to transfer the message contained in the source language into the target language together with all linguistic and extralinguistic aspects. Another important factor is to increase the students' awareness as to the significance of the extralinguistic knowledge being crucial for translation performance.
The objective is the analysis of and translation of a variety of texts on science, technology, tourism, and advertisement. Texts are translated by students individually and in teams, and translations performed are discussed.
