Application of electrophysiological methods in clinical practice and research 2404-P-4-NP-ZMEP

The main objective of the classes is to introduce students to the basics of EEG signal acquisition and analysis, and to showcase electrophysiological methods and their potential applications in experimental research and the clinical practice of a neuropsychologist.
Students will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in the registration and analysis of the human brain's bioelectric signal, designing studies using electrophysiological techniques: qualitative and quantitative EEG analysis, and evoked potentials. The advantages, disadvantages, and applications of electrophysiological methods in the diagnosis of neuropsychological disorders will be discussed during the classes.

Learning outcomes - knowledge

Directional Outcomes: K_W08 is familiar with the basic psychophysiological measurement methods and the biological mechanisms underlying the measured variables. K_W10 knows the basic psychometric properties of a test and the ways to determine them. K_W24 is familiar with the basic aspects of the construction and operation of scientific equipment specific to psychology (e.g., MRI, EEG, eye tracker). Subject-specific outcomes: The student: understands the mechanisms of generating the brain's bioelectric signal; knows the basics of EEG signal registration and analysis; is familiar with detailed terminology in both Polish and English related to the subject; knows electrophysiological methods (qualitative and quantitative EEG analysis) used in scientific research and clinical assessment of individuals with various central nervous system disorders; understands the basics of qualitative and quantitative EEG signal assessment in selected neurological, psychiatric diseases, and other CNS dysfunctions.
