Non-governmental Oranizations and Voluntary in Social Work 2403-302-PRSs1
Non-governmental organizations and volunteering are important elements of the area of social assistance. Intersectoral partnerships with participation of non-governmental sector and volunteering may provide more effective strengthening and activating activities for individuals, groups and communities. The knowledge about this sector will allow students better use the potential of it in the area of social assistance. Through the knowledge about volunteering motivation, stereotypes and the possibilities of using it for individuals and groups, volunteering can be an effective tool for social worker. Special attention will be given to volunteering in hospice-palliative care, support of family caregivers and bereavement and grief therapies.
Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and volunteering are important elements in the field of health and social assistance. Through cross-sectoral partnerships with the non-governmental sector and the involvement of volunteering, activities undertaken for the benefit of individuals, groups and communities in order to strengthen or activate them, can be more effective. Knowledge of the NGO sector will allow better use of its potential in the field of social welfare and support organization in local communities. Thanks to the knowledge of the principles of volunteering, motivation to undertake it, stereotypes that inhibit development and the possibility of using it for the benefit of individuals and groups, volunteering can become an effective tool for a social worker and educator. During the classes, students will present good practices in various areas of social assistance, and organizations related to palliative and hospice care, support for family caregivers and help after loss will be discussed in detail.
Course content
1. Introduction to the subject, presentation of key concepts, division of tasks related to the description of good cooperation practices.
2. NGO and volunteering in PS - help and support for children and youth.
3-4. NGO and volunteering in PS - help and support for addicts.
5-6. NGO and volunteering in PS - help and support for those excluded and at risk of social exclusion (prisoners, minors, people leaving penitentiary centers, homeless people, etc.)
7-8-9. NGO and volunteering in PS - help and support for dependent people, the disabled, at the end of life, respite care families and people after loss and in mourning.
10 Comparison of the presented good practices of cooperation between social workers, NGOs and Volunteering in Poland. Provide revised presentations in Teams files, ready for final evaluation and use by the group.

The learning outcomes achieved during the seminar will be assessed on the basis of a presentation, passed at least with a grade 3.0 (satisfactory), concerning the analysis of the selected good practice of cooperation between social workers and social workers and NGOs and volunteering, and a positive assessment of the preparation of a multimedia presentation according to the following criteria:
