Interpersonal Communication 2403-117-PRSs1

The exercises involve tasks on widely understood subject of interpersonal communication in peoples’ relations, especially in accordance to the relation of serving help, while working with different wards/clients. After covering a basic ground on the ideas and definitions connected with interpersonal communication, the trainees will learn the issues concerning verbal and nonverbal communication. The learnt tasks are suplemented with the characteristics of both types communication. The exercies concern the tasks sensitizing the factors which support the process of interpersonal communication, as well as pointing out and underlining the factors, that may become the barriers, hindering or disrupting a contact.

Total student workload

(in Polish) Godziny realizowane z udziałem nauczycieli (40 godz.): - udział w ćwiczeniach – 30 godz. - konsultacje z nauczycielem akademickim - 10 godz. Czas poświęcony na pracę indywidualną studenta (20 godz.): - przygotowanie do ćwiczeń, czytanie literatury przedmiotu – 10 godz. - przygotowanie się do kolokwium – 10 godz. Łącznie: 60 godz. (2 ECTS)

Learning outcomes

As the result of the conducted exercies the student will:
- understand better the primal problems on verbal and nonverbal communication
- learn the ways of communication with needing persons, coming from different societies and with whom the student will contact during the future professional duties
- gain the knowledge on the rules of verbal and nonverbal communication
- understand and know how to implement the basic rules of interpersonal communication in the social work
- know the factors supporting the process of interpersonal communication and will be able to implement this knowledge
- know the factors hindering the process of interpersonal communication and will be able to implement this knowledge

Assessment criteria

The condition of passing the classes on interpersonal communication is:
- active engagement in classes
- attendance
- passing the first mid-term exam
