- genesis of the study, its history and contemporary dillemas
- genesis, essence, and development of pedagogy
- basic concept categories of contemporary pedagogy
- education in different cultures and organisations (orders) of social life
- educational institutions
- genesis and structure of pedagogical knowledge
- a concept of pedagogical doctrine, meaning of doctrines for contemporary reflexion on education, a link between doctrines and educational ideologies

After the learning process, a student:
- understands basic pedagogy concepts,
- understands the essence of science as one of the forms of human experience
- analyses various concepts of education, restructures their assumptions and ideologies
- distinguishes between common knowledge on education and scientific knowledge
- distinguishes basic possibilities and limitations accompanying the education processes
- is able to use the language of various concepts of education for the purpose of describing the social reality
- describes particular pedagogical deposits
- distinguishes between particular ways of transmission of culture according to M. Mead
- identifies selected schools of pedagogy
- describes stages of development of humans according to E. Erikson
