UX Prototyping Workshop 2401-OG-EN-UXPW
The UX Prototyping Workshop is a practice-oriented course that focuses on prototyping as a core activity in the user experience design process. The course is structured around four thematic blocks that guide students from conceptual understanding to practical application.
The first block introduces the role and purpose of prototyping in UX design, emphasizing prototyping as a tool for exploration, communication, and early validation of ideas. The second block covers prototyping methods and tools, including pen-and-paper sketches as well as digital prototyping environments such as Marvel App and Figma. Students learn how to select appropriate tools depending on the design stage and project goals.
In the third block, students focus on designing and testing interfaces, creating basic user flows and interactive elements, and conducting simple usability tests to evaluate prototype effectiveness. The final block addresses iteration, refinement, and documentation, highlighting the importance of incorporating feedback, improving design solutions, and clearly documenting design decisions and prototype versions.
By the end of the course, students are able to create low- and mid-fidelity prototypes, test them with users, iterate based on feedback, and present documented design outcomes that support user experience objectives.
Thematic blocks:
1. Introduction and purpose of prototyping
2. Prototyping methods and tools (pen and paper, Marvel App, Figma)
3. Designing and testing interfaces
4. Iteration, refinement, and documentation

Assessment criteria
Assessment methods:
• Completion of all assigned tasks – W1, U1, U2, U3
• Active participation during classes – K1
• Preparation and presentation of a project – K3, U2
The final grade for the course will be primarily based on the preparation, development, and presentation of an individual UX prototyping project completed throughout the semester.
The student must complete all homework assignments on time. Failure to complete an assignment results in a 0.5-grade deduction from the final grade. Late submission of an assignment normally does not eliminate this penalty.
One (1) absence is allowed during the course. This absence means that one homework assignment may be submitted after the deadline without any grade penalty. Any additional absence will result in a 0.5-grade deduction from the final grade. This grade reduction is irreversible.
Laboratory assessment:
5 – 90% and more
4+ – 80% up to 89%
4 – 70% up to 79%
3+ – 60% up to 69%
3 – 51% up to 59%
2 – 50% and less
