Cognitive Semantics (introduction/wprowadzenie): Meaning as embodied and meaning as imaginative. Categorization by schema (generic-specific) & by prototype (centre-periphery). Cognitive Models: ICMs and CTM Cognitive Theory of Metaphor (a) propositional models, (b) image-schematic models, (c) metaphorical models: types & features, metaphorical coherences and duals, (d) metonymic models vs. metaphorical models. The Invariance hypothesis. The Great Chain Metaphor. Meaning motivation, polysemy and semantic change. Axiology in linguistic semantics. Introduction to Mental Spaces and the Conceptual Integration Theory.

Przedmiot prowadzony w języku angielskim z rekapitulacją terminologiczną w języku polskim. Testy i zdania analityczne - w języku polskim i angielskim. English will be the medium of instruction. Recapitulation will be available in Polish. Tests and analytical tasks will be materialised in English and Polish.
