Sciences in Clinical Physiotherapy. Clinical Physiotherapy in Internal Diseases: Clinical Physiotherapy in Internal Diseases: Clinical Physiotherapy in Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery
1855-F3-FKWKK-SJ
Classes conducted in the form of lectures and exercises. In lectures, issues related to diagnosis, therapy, prevention and treatment of basic cardiovascular and cardiac diseases are discussed. On the exercises, students learn how to work with a patient, assessment of health status, basics of subjective
and physical examination of a patient with a cardiac condition, proper selection of diagnostic tests and therapy of a patient with a cardiac condition and after cardiac surgery
Total student workload
Workload related to activities requiring direct participation
of the teacher:
- participation in lectures - 15 h (0.650 ECTS)
- participation in exercises - 40 h (1.63 ECTS)
Total 55 h-2.2 ECTS
2. Time spent by the student on individual work
-reading literature: 5h - 0,2 ECTS
-preparation for exercises: 5 h - 0, 2 ECTS
- preparation for the credit: 10 h - 0.4 ECTS
Total: 205h =0.80 ECTS
The total number of student work hours is 7555 h,
which corresponds to 3 pts. ECTS
Learning outcomes - knowledge
Knows and understands:
W1:etiology, pathomechanism, symptoms and course of the most common
diseases in the field of: cardiology and cardiac surgery to a degree that allows rational application of physiotherapy measures (D.W3)

of treatment in the most common diseases in the field of: cardiology and cardiac surgery to a degree that allows rational application
of physiotherapy measures ( D. W4)
W3: general principles of subjective and physical examination
of cardiology (D. W6)
W4: principles of interpretation of the results of additional tests
in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases and cardiac physiotherapy including: electrocardiography (ECG) and ultrasound, ECG functional tests, clinical evaluation of the health status of a patient with cardiovascular diseases according to various scales, in terms of the safe application of physiotherapy methods (D. W7)
W5: the results of exercise testing in cardiovascular physiotherapy
and pulmonary physiotherapy (test on bicycle ergometer, treadmill, walking tests, spiroergometric test), NYHA (New York Heart Association) heart failure scale and MET metabolic equivalent values (D.W8)

U1: perform basic measurements and functional tests with safety precautions, including measurement of heart rate, measurement of blood pressure, marching test, get up and go test, functional test on a moving treadmill according to the Bruce protocol and according to the modified Naughton protocol, and exercise test on a cycloergometer ( D. U28)
U2: plan, select and perform - depending on the clinical and functional status of the patient - physiotherapy procedures in patients with heart failure, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, post myocardial infarction, cardiac arrhythmias
and acquired heart defects (D. U29)
U3: plan, select and perform - depending on the clinical and functional status of the patient - physiotherapy procedures in patients qualified for heart surgery,
after cardiac surgery, with implanted cardiac pacemaker and after treatment with interventional cardiology methods (D.U30)

U5: instruct a patient with cardiovascular disease in the performance of home exercise and physical activity as a secondary prevention (D.U32)
U6: perform functional tests of the respiratory system,
including spirometry, and interpret the results of spirometry, exercise testing and blood gas testing (D.U33)
Learning outcomes - social competencies
