Sciences in Clinical Physiotherapy. Clinical Physiotherapy in Musculoskeletal Disorders: Clinical Physiotherapy in Orthopedics, Traumatology and Sports Medicine
1855-F3-FKOTM-SJ
The subject is taught in the form of lectures and exercises.
Students joining the classes have knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal system and exercise physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics and the clinical basis of physiotherapy in orthopedic and traumatic diseases. They can perform physical treatments, classical massage techniques and rehabilitation exercises. They know contraindications to physical treatment, massage and kinesiotherapy. They know the health and safety rules applicable to physiotherapy procedures in the patient's room and in physiotherapy laboratories.
Students participating in the exercises are able to list the symptoms and know the methods of orthopedic treatment of the discussed diseases. They are able to examine the patient's functional condition, assess posture, describe passive and active joint mobility, examine muscle strength, and conduct gait analysis.
The lectures are intended to explain the specificity of physiotherapeutic procedures in orthopedic and traumatic diseases. The principles of selecting physiotherapy treatments in the treatment of patients with orthopedic and traumatic diseases will be presented. The lectures will focus on the physiotherapeutic impact on tissue healing processes and bone metabolism. Management of complications of injury healing will be discussed.
The exercises are devoted to teaching understanding and diagnosing physiotherapy needs in orthopedic and traumatic diseases and teaching how to conduct physiotherapy in the discussed diseases, taking into account the patient's current condition and the orthopedic treatment method used.
Total student workload
1. Obligatory hours carried out with the participation of the teacher:
- participation in lectures - 20 h
- participation in exercises – 70 h
90 h = 3.6 ECTS
2. Time devoted by the student to individual work:
- reading literature – 30 h = 1.2 ECTS
3. Time required to prepare for the assessment process – 30 h = 1.2 ECTS
Total workload: 150 h = 6 ECTS
