Summer internships – 150h
Accreditation based on attendance and active participation in internships.
During the internship, students systematize their knowledge of the basics of physiotherapy acquired in the first year of studies. This internship allows the student to have their first contact with a patient and get to know the work of the clinical team.
Student's choice of ward (Rehabilitation, Orthopedics, Surgery, Pediatrics, Neurology)
During the internship, the student learns:
familiarization with the specifics of the ward and the organization of work in the ward
assisting during the physical examination of the patient
assisting during intravenous infusions, injections, changing dressings
care of a bedridden patient
feeding and watering the patient
application of amenities in the patient's position - anti-bedsore mattresses, and other
amenities
ensuring the patient's comfortable position in bed
measurement of body temperature
measurement, assessment and documentation of the patient's pulse
measurement, assessment and documentation of the patient's blood pressure
taking anthropometric measurements (weight, height) of the patient
establishing contact with the patient
recognition of the patient's needs
assistance to the patient in moving around
assistance in performing hygiene activities
transporting the patient within the hospital
assessment of the level of risk pressure sores
conducting pressure sore prophylaxis
assistance in preparing for diagnostic tests
monitoring the patient's condition in all therapeutic phases

Assessment criteria
1. The internship journal contains a verification card for learning outcomes, based on which the mentor assesses the student's knowledge, skills and social competences. To obtain credit for the internship, all components must be passed with a "yes" (minimum required for passing). In other situations, when there is at least one "no" credit, the student will not receive an entry in USOS confirming that the summer internship has been passed.
2. All absences from summer internships must be made up after arranging a date with the internship supervisor.
