Introduction to Medicine 1700-A5-PROPED2-SJ

Practical lessons: The aim of the practical lessons is to employ the knowledge acquired during the lectures in clinical setting. Students learn how to perform basic clinical examination including taking vital signs, assessing patient general condition and eligibility for treatment process. All participants are also acquainted with the principles of a clinical interview and are engaged in ward daily routine.

Learning outcomes - knowledge

W1: describes the structure and functions of the human organism, identifies the mechanism of occurrence, modulation and perception of internal diseases, knows the appropriate criteria for the selection of research (K_W23) W2: Presents the principles of fundamental emergency medical procedures in different health-threatening conditions, knows basic laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging used in the diagnosis of internal diseases (K_W23)

Learning outcomes - skills

U1: carries out basic emergency medical procedures in health emergencies; independently performs procedures, interprets indications, contraindications and side effects of internal medicine procedures (K_U28) U2: verbally presents the results of administered internal treatment, uses specialist language or foreign language in accordance with requirements set down for level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, to a degree facilitating autonomous use of specialist literature and satisfactory practice in the health care sector (K_U28) U3: is able to collect clinical history of the patient, is able to recognize the basic life-threatening internal diseases, know cardiopulmonary resuscitation (K_U28)

Learning outcomes - social competencies

K1: acknowledges the need for lifelong education, recognises when to consult experts and is aware of own limitations, understands the importance of preventive care, competently determines priorities with the aim of completing professional tasks (K_K06).
