6.1. Family Medicine
1655-LekM5COAMRO-J
Classes are devoted to the analysis of the most common clinical cases in the practice of a family doctor (patients with infections, patients with diabetes, internal diseases and children's diseases) and the principles of doctor-patient communication.
The seminars are designed to provide students with knowledge about the principles of treatment with vitamin K antagonists, respiratory tract infections, practical cardiovascular risk assessment, cancer prevention, obesity as a civilization disease (epidemiology, complications, diagnosis and treatment), urinary tract infections.
Classes in family medicine are aimed at shaping the medical attitude expected in the practice of a family doctor and familiarizing students with the model of primary health care based on a family doctor. Direct contact with the patient in the practice of a family doctor gives the opportunity to learn about the epidemiology of basic medical problems and how to solve them individually.
During classes at the family doctor's office, students practically use the knowledge gained in previous years of study. Under the supervision of an assistant, they conduct an interview and physical examination, make a preliminary diagnosis, suggest possible diagnostic tests and treatment.

All absences the student is required to pass in the form indicated by the teacher (oral or written form). In the case of clinical exercises with the participation of the patient, the student is obliged to make up the absence on another date indicated by the teacher. The condition to take the exam is to pass all classes in accordance with the assumed effects of education.
