In seminars student will be introduced to fetal biology, newborn physiology and pathology and also problem of prematurity.
Exercises:
1. Regulations of exercises and health and safety rules in force at the Clinical Department of Newborns and premature babies, where the classes are held.
2. Organizing the system of care for newborns, depending on the degree of referral of departments.
3. Promotion of breastfeeding.
4. Medical and physical examination of the newborn. Using medical records, development standards tables.
5. Postpartum management depending on the clinical condition. Principles of neonatal resuscitation.
6. Implementation of screening tests, vaccination program.
7. Assessment of birth injuries, differentiation.
8. Transitional states in newborns.
9.Jaundice in newborns, differentiation of physiological and pathological jaundice, methods of treatment. Serological conflict - diagnosis, treatment.
10. Problems of newborns of mothers with diabetes.
11. Newborn baby with respiratory disorders - causes of respiratory failure.

The subject is carried out together with classes in Gynecology and Obstetrics. Assessment is carried out during practical classes based on the observation of the student's activity and knowledge.
Credit for the grade takes place during the test exam for Neonatology.
