1. Regulations for classes and occupational health and safety rules in the Clinical Department of Neonates and Preterm Infants, where classes are held.

2. Organization of neonatal care depending on the referral level of departments.

3. Promotion of breastfeeding.

4. Medical history and physical examination of the newborn. Use of medical records and developmental norm tables.

5. Management of the newborn after delivery depending on clinical condition. Principles of neonatal resuscitation.

6. Implementation of screening tests and the vaccination program.

7. Assessment and differentiation of birth injuries.

8. Transitional conditions in newborns.

9. Neonatal jaundice – differentiation of physiological and pathological jaundice, treatment methods. Hemolytic disease of the newborn – diagnosis and treatment.

10. Neonatal problems of infants born to mothers with diabetes.

11. Newborn with respiratory disorders – causes of respiratory failure.

12. Treatment of respiratory failure: NCPAP / mechanical ventilation. Possible complications.

13. Prematurity and respiratory distress syndrome, surfactant therapy, significance of prenatal steroid therapy.

14. Principles of transfusion medicine in newborns.
