The educational structure of the tutorials is focused on the three following areas: the utilization of practical clinical skills in the differential diagnosis process, the ability to properly diagnose various medical emergencies, and the proper performance of emergency medicine procedures which will lead to a positive long-term prognosis for the treated patient. This course also prepares future doctors to learn to effectively and professionally function in the day-to-day operation of an emergency department.

Learning outcomes - knowledge
W1: Describes various health emergencies (F K_W07).
W2: Characterizes clinical procedures of emergency medicine
(F K_W07).
W3: Displays the required knowledge of the advanced life support (ALS) algorithm for individuals of various ages (F K_W07).
W4: Determines the diagnostic principles and the required treatment of patients in various medical emergencies (F K_W07).
Learning outcomes - skills
U1: Properly utilizes the basic and advanced life support algorithm in individuals of various ages (F K_U10, F K_U11).
U2: Monitors the patient’s vital signs by using the methods in the clinical practice of the emergency department (E K_U29).
U3: Practices the required procedures of emergency medicine (E K_U29).
U4: Properly diagnoses a patient in various medical emergencies (E K_U29).
U5: Properly makes therapeutic decisions regarding patients with various emergencies (E K_U29).
U6: Is able to perform the specialized clinical practice treatment procedures of the emergency department (E K_U29).
U7: Demonstrates the needed skills to properly organize the structure, and daily operation of various systems in the emergency department (F K_U11).
Learning outcomes - social competencies
K1: Develops a sense of personal responsibility needed to provide quality medical care (K_K01, K_K04, K_K05, K_K06).
K2: Has the ability to properly assess encountered problems, and also adapts easily to new situations (K_K01, K_K02, K_K07 ).

Prerequisites
Students beginning their emergency medicine - clinical and practical skills instruction course should already possess knowledge and practical skills as a result of their 5th year emergency medicine classes.

Assessment criteria
Oral test (> 75%): W1 – W4, U4, U5
Practical test in a clinical setting (scoring system 0-1, assessment of the performed procedures): W4, U2 – U7
Practical test in a simulation setting (scoring system 0-1, assessment of the performed procedures): W3, W4, U1 – U6
Extended observation (0 – 10 pts; > 50%): K1 – K2
The final grade is established based on all the above partial notes.
