The aim of the practice at the Department of Internal Medicine is to supplement the knowledge about the organization of the Internal Department (Clinic) and the organizational connection of the Department (Clinic) with open medicine, to improve the skills of subjective and physical examination, to get acquainted with the principles of first aid, resuscitation and resuscitation, to deepen the skills of recognizing and differentiating the basic Disease units with particular emphasis on acute cases, familiarization with the principles of interpretation of the results of laboratory, radiological and pathomorphological tests, participation in medical celebrations. The student should actively participate in the activities of the unit in which he carries out the internship. It should develop skills in group work and the organization of workplaces in accordance with legal and ethical principles.

Learning outcomes - knowledge
E.W1. knows the environmental and epidemiological conditions of the most common diseases;
E.W7. knows and understands the causes, symptoms, principles of diagnosis and therapeutic management in relation to the most common internal diseases occurring in adults and their complications:
a) cardiovascular diseases, including: coronary heart disease, heart defects, endocardial diseases, heart muscle, pericardium, heart failure (acute and chronic), arterial and venous vascular diseases, arterial hypertension: primary and secondary, pulmonary hypertension,
b) respiratory diseases, including: respiratory diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, respiratory infections, interstitial lung diseases, pleura, mediastinum, obstructive and central sleep apnea, respiratory failure (acute and chronic), respiratory cancers,
c) diseases of the digestive system, including diseases of the oral cavity, esophagus, stomach and duodenum, intestines, pancreas, liver, bile ducts and gallbladder,
d) diseases of the endocrine system, including diseases of: hypothalamus and pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid glands, cortex and spinal cord of the adrenal glands, ovaries and testicles, as well as neuroendocrine tumors, multi-glandular syndromes, various types of diabetes and metabolic syndrome: hypoglycemia, obesity, dyslipidemia,
e) kidney and urinary tract diseases, including: acute and chronic renal failure, glomerular and interstitial diseases of the kidneys, kidney cysts, nephrolithiasis, urinary tract infections, urinary tract cancers, in particular bladder cancer and kidney cancer,
f) diseases of the hematopoietic system, including: bone marrow aplasia, anemia, granulocytopenia and agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, acute leukemias, myeloproliferative neoplasms and myelodysplastic-myeloproliferative, myelodysplastic syndromes, neoplasms from mature B and T lymphocytes, hemorrhagic diathesis, thrombophilia, states of imminent threat to life in hematology, blood disorders in diseases of other organs;
g) rheumatic diseases, including: systemic connective tissue diseases, systemic vasculitis, arthritis with spinal involvement, metabolic diseases of the bones, in particular osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, gout,
h) allergic diseases, including: anaphylaxis and anaphylactic shock and angioedema,
(i) water-electrolyte and acid-base disturbances: dehydration states, overhydration states, electrolyte disturbances, acidosis and alkalosis;
E.W8. knows and understands the course and symptoms of the aging process, as well as the principles of holistic geriatric assessment and interdisciplinary care in relation to the elderly patient;
E.W9. understands the causes and knows the basic differences in the most common diseases occurring in the elderly and the rules of conduct in basic geriatric syndromes;
E.W10. knows and understands the basic principles of pharmacotherapy of diseases of the elderly;
E.W11. knows and understands the risks associated with hospitalization of the elderly;
E.W12. knows and understands the basic principles of the organization of care for an elderly person and the burden on the caregiver of an elderly person;
E.W37. knows the types of biological materials used in laboratory diagnostics and the rules for collecting material for research;
E.W38. knows the theoretical and practical foundations of laboratory diagnostics;
E.W39. knows and understands the possibilities and limitations of laboratory tests in emergency states;
E.W40. lists the indications for the implementation of monitored therapy;
E.W41. defines the basic concepts of pharmacoeconomics
Learning outcomes - skills
E.U1. conducts a medical history with an adult patient;
E.U3. conducts a full and targeted physical examination of an adult patient;
E.U12. conducts differential diagnosis of the most common diseases of adults and children;
E.U13. assesses and describes the somatic and mental state of the patient;
E.U14. recognizes states of imminent threat to life;
E.U15. recognizes the condition after the consumption of alcohol, drugs and other stimulants;
E.U16. plans diagnostic, therapeutic and prophylactic procedures;
E.U17. carry out an analysis of possible side effects of individual drugs and interactions between them;
E.U18. proposes the individualisation of existing therapeutic guidelines and other treatment methods in the face of ineffectiveness or contraindications to standard therapy;
E.U20. qualifies the patient for home and hospital treatment;
E.U24. interprets laboratory tests and identifies the causes of deviations;
E.U25. use nutritional treatment (including enteral and parenteral nutrition);
E.U28. collects material for tests used in laboratory diagnostics;
E.U29. performs basic medical procedures and procedures, including:
a) body temperature measurement, heart rate measurement, non-invasive blood pressure measurement,
b) monitoring of vital signs by means of a cardiac monitor, pulse oximetry,
c) spirometry test, oxygen treatment,
d) intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, peripheral vein cannulation, peripheral venous blood collection,
e) taking swabs from the nose, throat and skin,
f) catheterization of the bladder in women and men, gastric tubeing, gastric lavage, enema,
g) standard resting electrocardiogram with interpretation, electrical cardioversion and cardiac defibrillation,
(h) simple strip tests and blood glucose measurement;
E.U30. assists in carrying out the following medical procedures and procedures:
a) transfusion of blood and blood preparations,
b) drainage of the pleural cavity,
c) puncture of the peritoneal cavity,
d) epidermal tests,
(e) intradermal and scarification tests and interpret their results;
E.U31. interpret the pharmaceutical characteristics of medicinal products and critically evaluate advertising material on medicines;
E.U32. plans specialist consultations;
E.U37. recognizes the agony of the patient and determines his death;
E.U38. keeps medical records of the patient.
