3.6. Otolaryngological Problems Within the Respiratory System with Elements of Oncology 1600-LekM4CUOLAR-J
The classes are designed to present issues related to the physiology of the upper respiratory tract, which will allow for proper understanding of disease processes. Also, the widely discussed problems in the field of malformations of the upper respiratory tract will allow for a proper understanding of the problem, which will facilitate the proper handling of such cases in the future. A particularly important problem discussed during the lectures is the diagnosis and treatment of neoplasms in the field of the larynx, nose and paranasal sinuses, nasopharynx, middle and lower pharynx, mouth, neck and salivary glands. A separate issue is the aspects of acute and chronic inflammatory diseases in the field of otolaryngology. During the lectures, the problems of acute inflammations of the mouth, pharynx and larynx, ears and salivary glands in adults and children as well as appropriate diagnostic and treatment algorithms will be presented in detail. With regard to chronic inflammatory diseases affecting the nose and paranasal sinuses, ears, larynx, oropharynx and pharynx, the basic principles of diagnostics and qualification for surgical treatment will be discussed. Various techniques of surgical procedures will be presented, from functional surgery that preserves the function of the organs to radical procedures that deprive the patient of the basic functions of the diseased organs. Much attention will be paid to issues related to sinus-related inflammatory complications, with an appropriate approach to the diagnosis of these conditions and appropriate treatment.
