Polish Economic Criminal Law

The course contains basic information on Polish criminal law regarding economic crime, presented on a background of criminological description of the specific crime. The participants obtain information on specific features of economic crime. There are presented the following topics:
1. Introduction to specificity of economic crime
2. Fraud
3. Corruption
4. Insider Dealing
5. Money Laundering
6. Organized Crime
7. Shadow economy
8. Criminal Liability of Legal Persons
9. Human Trafficking as Economic Crime
The final part of the course is summary and final remarks

Self-study hours:
- preparation for active participation in the lecture (discussion, solving tasks given by the tutor as homework, reading literature pointed by the lecturer, comparing and contrasting Polish institutions of constitutional law, legal system and civil as well as criminal law versus institutions valid in students' countries of origin,) – 40 hrs
- preparation before exam (familiarizing with materials delivered by the lecturer (power point/prezi presentations), as well as literature; analysis of provisions of Polish Constitution, Polish Civil Code and Criminal Code) – 84 hrs
Altogether: 150 hrs (6.00 points ECTS)

W1: has knowledge about basic institutions of criminal law regarding economic crime

W3: knows basics and characterizes problems of economic crime control especially in area of criminal law

Assessment criteria
Students will be graded on basis of their results at the compulsory test (single choice test, i.e. with one correct answer): W1, W2, W3, U1, U2, K1, K2, K3
Scale of grading:
fail- 20 pts or less (50% or less)
satisfactory- 11 pts (55%)
satisfactory plus- 13 pts (65%)
good - 15 pts (75%)
good plus- 17 pts (85%)
very good- 19 pts (95%)
