European Criminal Law 1300-ECL-KPP
The main aim of the course it to introduce the students into the framework and concept of European criminal law. This is a relatively new subject but recently developing dynamically and the number of legal instruments has increased significantly. The plans to establish the office of European Public Prosecutor and already existing Europol and Eurojust give the idea of European judicial space (or European area of criminal law) a new dimension.
The content of the course covers such topics as: the concept of European criminal law, the development of European criminal law, sources of law, the system of the Council of Europe, the EU system, institutions, harmonization and unification, substantive European criminal law, cooperation in criminal matters.
Moreover, the course is intended to develop some other skills such as extending the knowledge of legal terms, ability for searching information in databases.
